ACC Championship Odds: NC State Takes on Clemson For Top Spot

The ACC Championship had a run of 10 years when Clemson and Florida State were the only champions. Pittsburgh broke that run last year, winning its first ACC championship. While Clemson and Florida State are strong once again, several teams are playing well enough that they could make a run at the ACC title.

This upcoming weekend will be a huge one for the ACC, with several primetime matchups that could loom large in who ends up playing in the title game at season’s end.

North Carolina sports fans don’t have the luxury of using NC online sports betting apps to place their wagers, but there are three retail sportsbooks inside state lines that will take those bets.

ACC Championship Odds

Clemson was the preseason favorite, and while the Tigers have looked vulnerable, they are still undefeated and remain the favorite to win the ACC. Their odds have gotten slightly longer, from -125 preseason to -150. NC State football went from third to second from preseason to now, and a win at Clemson this weekend very well could vault them into poll position.

NC State @ Clemson preview

  • Point Spread: NC State at Clemson (-6.5)
  • Moneyline: NC State (+210) at Clemson (-250)
  • Total: 40.5 points (Over -110/Under -110)

With both teams coming into the game undefeated, this one has all the makings of a big-time game. Perhaps more than any other factor, the most significant thing to watch in this is not a player, coach, or home-field advantage but Mother Nature. With Hurricane Ian barrelling up the east coast, it could change the status of this game in a hurry.

Two teams that have high-powered offenses may have to resort to some ground and pound if wind and rains are what some projections show. Could a wet football cause an unforced turnover that changes the game? With bad weather, it surely could, and this game may end up being decided by which team is tougher and takes better care of the football.

Other Games to Watch This Weekend

Virginia Tech at North Carolina

  • Point Spread: Virginia Tech at North Carolina (-8.5)
  • Moneyline: Virginia Tech (+255) at UNC (-305)
  • Total: 51.5 points (Over -110/Under -110)

North Carolina avoided losing close games in two of its first three games and started the year 3-0. That undefeated run came to an end last week when the Tar Heels lost to Notre Dame. Virginia Tech has struggled this season and is coming off a blowout loss to West Virginia. With this being another potential lousy weather game, UNC needs to find a way to assert its offensive dominance early and have a cushion going to the latter stages of the game.

Wake Forest at Florida State

  • Point Spread: Wake Forest at Florida State (-7)
  • Moneyline: Wake Forest (+210) at FSU (-250)
  • Total: 64 points (Over -110/Under -110)

FSU has seen a significant turnaround this season, and it appears to be ready to be back in the yearly conversation of ACC contenders. At the same time, Wake Forest is coming off a heartbreaking loss to Clemson. Wake Forest has to win this game if it wants to keep its ACC title hopes alive. While Florida State can make yet another statement win this season, further building its case as an ACC contender while starting to sneak into the College Football Playoff conversation.

Soon, NCAA football betting will include online sports betting as North Carolina moves to launch the industry. That will happen some time in the first half of 2024.
