Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Ahead Of Schedule On Hotel Tower

Construction of the 12-story hotel tower at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel in Murphy could be completed by late 2024 with rooms available for booking on March 1, 2o25.

Caesars Entertainment has spent $275 million on the transformation of the North Carolina casino, which is one of two it operates under the Harrah’s brand in the state.

Valley Tower will have 296 rooms and a rooftop restaurant

Robins & Morton of Alabama is constructing the hotel at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River. According to Caesars, bookings are now available for rooms in the new Valley Tower hotel for as early as March 1. Given the progress being made, it’s possible Harrah’s could welcome visitors earlier than that, the company said.

Valley Tower will have 296 rooms adjacent to the gaming area, which is currently open. A spa, 12,000-square foot rooftop restaurant, swimming pools, and conference areas are also part of the project. Initially, there will not be a retail sportsbook, but there’s plans to add one in the future.

Located conveniently near Asheville, Harrah’s Cherokee Valley is the premier gaming destination in that part of the state. Following the renovation, it will be the largest casino resort in the Tar Heel State.

Possible Future Casino Sites in North Carolina

Harrah’s is the big casino gaming player in North Carolina. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian tribe owns both it and Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort.

Other tribes, however, are hoping to join the fray. Last month, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump promised a campaign crowd in North Carolina that he would work to get the federal government to recognize the Lumbee Tribe. Federal recognition would allow the tribe to petition to build a casino in North Carolina.

The tribe has been seeking federal recognition for decades. If allowed, it would likely build a casino in Robeson County in the southern portion of the state.

Building a casino in Nash County has also been discussed by city and county officials, with Rocky Mount Mayor Sandy Roberson not ruling it out earlier this year during public discussions about possible economic development plans for that part of the state.
