Milestone Achieved In Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino Construction Project

The $275 million expansion project at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel has reached a significant milestone. Last week, the final steel beam was set in place as part of a “topping out” ceremony at the casino in Southwestern North Carolina.

The beam is part of the highest structure in the new 12-story hotel that is integral to the North Carolina casino’s expansion.

Local officials, Cherokee leaders, representatives of Harrah’s and the building contractor, and construction workers were on hand to celebrate its placement.

New hotel will feature nearly 300 rooms and a rooftop eatery

Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino in Murphy has already been transformed. This spring, the new gaming floor debuted, featuring hundreds of additional slot machines and table games.

The new resort hotel will provide 296 rooms, conference areas, multiple dining and drinking establishments, a 9,600-square-foot spa, and more. It will be crowned by a 12,000-square-foot rooftop restaurant and will also have a wine cellar.

The property is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment, Inc., which has Harrah’s branded gaming facilities in several states. Three of them are in the Tar Heel State.

The project is led by Robins & Morton, which has headquarters in Mobile, AL. It has extensive experience working on casinos and resorts for Caesars and Harrah’s. The expansion project started in 2022 and is expected to be completed before the end of the year.

Resort is close to major cities

Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River is roughly a two-hour drive from many notable regional cities, including Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Knoxville.

The resort casino is also about two hours west of Asheville.

There are several golf courses near Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River, and the venue frequently attracts lovers of the game who also wish to try their hand at casino gaming.

Gambling expansion still in early stages in NC

In North Carolina, brick-and-mortar is the only form of casino gambling currently approved by the state legislature. However, some lawmakers in the state are interested in discussing expanding online gambling options to include real money NC online casinos.

Currently, Tar Heel state residents can access online lottery, online sports betting and also online sweepstakes casinos.
